This is a track sheet from our recording session. Mike Landy insisted upon analogue 2" tape for sound reasons. Using 2" creates some problems that I have got in the habit of avoiding recently by using digital recording tape. For one, each reel has only 15" of music on it so doing takes one after the other can't happen has each reel has to be rewound and reboxed before a new one can be loaded. 2" is more expensive so I was forced to do a little editing during the session deciding which takes we could "lose" before actually listening to them carefully. I'm quite happy with the sound but I still miss the ease of the digital working environment.

Looking at it now I see a few things I didn't remember: we had four room mics which we used in the mix to create a natural reverb. They were positioned on boom stands high above our heads. These were especially helpful in the DVD 5.1 mix. We ended up printing the Schoeps cello track just in case, we ne ver used it. Track 24 was the SMPTE track. All the reels were pre-striped with SMPTE in order to facilitate the mixing later at SIAM's studio where a Sonic Solutions work station was slavedto each reel. We mixed down to stereo onto the Sonic Solutions hard drives where we could then edit. The 5.1 mix was done similarly but instead of two tracks the music was mixed to the 6 tracks required by 5.1 (two front, two back, one center and one sub-woofer.)
